Meter people <br />are “piranhas”. <br />Need to change meter “technology” <br />Enforcement needed <br />Bend system is easy to use, no glitches <br />Corvallis advertising “Free Parking” in downtown. <br />Downtown losing business to Oakway <br />Balance revenue with public relations and enforcement. – Use revenue for helping <br />downtown safety. <br />Free parking is perception issue. Enforcement more “forgiving” could also help <br />perception. Enforcement not stealthy; expectations for when meter people come around <br />could be marked on the meter. <br />Revenue stream focus is wrong path, could lead to “unfriendly” tactics. <br />Parking spaces near Hult and Tae-kwon-do Studio need long as possible limits (over 1 <br />hour). Improve safety in Parcade. Hult parking always seems to have safety guard <br />walking around, but Parcade doesn’t. <br />Eliminate meters – replace with signs indicating time constraints such as “90 minute <br />limit.” Enforce as needed. <br />Strongly support eliminating parking meters. Time restricted parking is much friendlier. <br />Rely on the 30 minute meters to help spots close to my shop (Shaw-Med). Eliminating <br />parking meters would (could) eliminate convenient parking for my patrons and hurt my <br />business. <br />Meters assure can park close and get in and out. Without meters people parking for long <br />periods of time who may or not use downtown stores. Free competes with Diamond and <br />others with pay to park spots that are used employees (by not shoppers). <br />First ½ hour free could be good to keep downtown workers from taking street spots. <br />Different business, different situation, different need – Park Blocks Problem, Bank, Title <br />Co., LCOG, 2 attorney offices – lot of people need short term spots, but less than 25 <br />spaces. Physical layout of building(s) means that we can’t keep eye on spaces. Variable <br />meters don’t help. People “camp” and feed the meter all day no matter the cost. Tickets <br />graduate from $12 to $30 is a big difference. Meters in the area run 10% fast. This <br />creates a trust issue because things don’t work as they should. Inequity. <br />Bike cabs popular at night. Could be used during the day. They run on tips only, no fee; <br />not paying is a more positive feel. There are not enough spaces. <br />30 minute meters are too short – Free would be best with a time limit. <br />Time limits good, maybe different in different areas. Tickets spoil downtown experience. <br />Eliminate meters is the first way to encourage people to come downtown. <br />I see people “camp” in spots and pay meters all day. Some 30 minute meters to meet <br />various business needs and some 90 minute meters would be good. Each store owner <br />could monitor and give out “tickets” to people who work downtown and just feed meters. <br />Parking garages free. <br />First hour Free would be good. <br />
