ORDINANCE NO. 19845 <br />AN oRDINANCE CONCERNING PUBLIC PASSENGER VEHICLES; <br />AMENDING 5ECTIONS 3.005, 3.025, 3.042 AND 3.345 OF <br />THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; REPEALING SECTIONS 3.894 AND <br />3.896 OF THAT CODE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The definitions for "Airport shuttle," "Charter or tour <br />bus, " "Motorized vehicles, " "Public passenger vehicle, " and "Taxi cab, " set <br />forth under the Licensed Businesses definitions for Public Pasenger Vehicles <br />in Section 3.005 of the Eugene Code, 1911 are amended, anew definition for <br />"Accessible vehicle" i s added thereto, and the definitions set forth under <br />Uniform Business Practices definitions for Wheelchair Vehicles in Section <br />3.005 of the Eugene Code, 1971, are repealed, all to provide: <br />3.005 Definitions. For the purposes of this chapter, the following words <br />and phrases shall mean; <br />Licensed Businesses <br />Public Passenger Vehicles: <br />Accessible vehicle. Any public passenger vehicle for hire <br />that i s constructed and equipped to meet ADA standards for the non- <br />emergency transportation of persons in wheelchairs, persons using <br />other mobility aids, or with other mobility impairments. <br />ADA. Americans with Disabilities Act. <br />Shuttle. A motori zed vehicle for hire that transports passen- <br />gers between predetermined destinations ~e.g. motels, airport, <br />downtown passenger station, at fixed rates and on a fixed schedule. <br />Charter vehicle. A motorized vehicle originating from the <br />Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Area, marked with the company's <br />business name, operated for hire to transport a group Of seven or <br />more persons with the fare based on a group rate rather than an <br />individual basis. <br />Tour bus . A motori zed vehicle accepting individual passengers <br />for a fare for sightseeing or guided tours, making occasional stops <br />at certain points of interest and returning the passengers to the <br />point of origin. <br />Motorized vehicle. A public passenger vehicle other than a <br />horse-drawn carriage or anon-motori zed bike cab. <br />Pu is passenge <br />_ ~^~ ,,,, ,,,r vehicle.
