An open house was held on <br />June 6, 2001 to provide property owners the opportunity to comment on the Nodal Development Plan <br />and Garden Way design. The Eugene Planning Commissions held a work session on April 23, 2001 to <br />review the nodal development and to comment on two possible alignments of the area's collector <br />street. The Commission suggested that Garden Way should remain the main north-south collector <br />street. A preliminary nodal development plan was presented and reviewed by the Commission on June <br />12, 2001. On June 18, 2001 the Eugene Planning Commission held a work session to review further <br />analysis work related to the nodal plan. A joint public hearing was held by the Eugene and Lane <br />County Planning Commissions on January 8, 2002 to consider the draft Chase Gardens Nodal <br />Development Plan. The record remained open until January 22, 2002. Staff responded to public <br />testimony, then the record was reopened between February 20 through March 5, 2002. The Eugene <br />Planning Commission held a work session on March 12, 2002 to review the public comments received <br />and staff response. After this work session, the Commission confirmed its recommendation that <br />Garden Way remain the primary north-south collector street through Chase Gardens and that the <br />roadway be realigned to reduce or remove the sharp 90-degree curves near Centennial Boulevard. A <br />final work session was held by the Eugene Planning Commission on April 2, 2002 recommending to <br />the City Council approval of the Chase Gardens Nodal Development concept as contained in the draft. <br />On May 21, 2002, the Lane County Planning Commission reviewed the Eugene Planning <br />Commission's general direction and agreed with Eugene's recommendation. <br /> <br />A work session was held by the Eugene City Council on September 11, .2002 and a public heating was <br />held by the City Council and Board of County Commissioners on September 18, 2002. At those times, <br />the Council reviewed the Planning Commission's recommendations of approving the Chase Gardens <br />Nodal Development Plan. The Council held a work session on October 28, 2002 to discuss testimony <br />and questions raised during the September 18, 2002 joint public hearing. On November 12, 2002, City <br />Council passed an ordinance establishing the Chase Gardens Nodal Development Plan. On March 19, <br />2003, the Board of County Commissioners ordained the Chase Gardens Nodal Development Plan and <br />amended the Metro Plan and the Willakenzie Area Plan. <br /> <br /> <br />
