J. 10 Support efforts to develop industries that have a relatively high potential for utilizing <br /> renewable energy sources or waste heat. <br /> <br /> J. 11 Encourage the use and development of cogenerative and decentralized energy supplies <br /> for commercial and industrial purposes in an environmentally beneficial manner. <br /> <br /> J. 12 When practical, the government sector should take the lead in demonstrating and <br /> implementing: <br /> <br /> a. Cost-effective use of renewable and decentralized energy sources, such as solar <br /> space and water heating systems. <br /> <br /> b. Selection and efficient use of energy-saving vehicles. <br /> <br /> J. 13 Continue and encourage cooperation and communication between citizenry, utilities, and <br /> local, state, and federal governmental entities concerning energy-related issues, especially <br /> as they pertain to service area boundaries and economic development. <br /> <br /> J. 14 Continue to encourage efforts at the state level to promote energy conservation, such as <br /> in the statewide building code. <br /> <br /> J. 15 Continued coordination of information and programs concerning energy conservation <br /> shall be a high priority for affected local governments. <br /> <br />{ J.-1-71~d-The Energy Element should be re-evaluated during the Metro Plan update in light of the <br /> program activities for local governments that were laid out in the Northwest Conservation <br /> and EYectrYc Power Plan. <br /> <br /> III-J-6 <br /> <br /> <br />
