-----Original Message-----
From: Anita Glantz [mailto:lunamobile@hotmail.com]
Sent: Thursday, September 22, 2005 3:52 PM
To: *Eugene Mayor and City Council; TAYLOR Dennis M
Subject: East Amazon Headwater Forest Preservation

Dear Mayor Piercy and City Council Members,

I am writing to you as a concerned citizen of Eugene and a neighbor of
the two Amazon Headwaters properties that face imminent development.
My property at 5055 Nectar Way adjoins the East Fork Headwaters
Forest. I urge to you please support the motion that Betty Taylor
will be proposing at this Monday night's Council meeting, to impose a
temporary moratorium on development applications on properties with a
natural resource rating of 66 or greater that are included in the Goal
5 study.

By passing this motion, you will ensure that the irreplaceable natural
resources that Goal 5 was designed to protect will not be denuded by
hasty development, speeded along perhaps by a desire to circumvent
GoalS regulations. By passing this motion, you will assure that the
City of Eugene, with the assistance of our neighborhood organization
and several interested national environmental groups, will have an
opportunity to acquire these lands for the good of all Eugene, for our
water quality, for storm run-off prevention, for Ridgeline Trail
access, for the protection of endangered plant and animal species, and
for the priceless qualities that pristine forests within the city
limits provide for all generations to come.

As someone who has first-hand knowledge of the tremendous beauty and
natural value of the Amazon Headwaters Forest lands, I ask you to
please support our preservation efforts by passing this temporary
development moratorium on Monday, September 26th.

Thank you for all your efforts,
Anita D. Glantz
Ben Glantz
Robert Dashnaw
Sequoia Dashnaw
5055 Nectar Way
Eugene, OR 97405
