LOWE Allen D

From: Art Clark [aclark@hershnerhunter.com]
Sent: Saturday, November 05,20054:53 PM
To: *Eugene Mayor and City Council
Cc: LOWE Allen D
Subject: Please support Chambers Special Area Zone

Dear Mayor and City Councilors,

I write in support of the CAFHN proposals for R-2 Overlay Development Standards.

I am a native Eugenean and have practiced business law for the last 29 years. I live in southwest Eugene and
am very interested in the development of the city as a whole and west Eugene in particular.

I strongly support the CAFHN proposals for infill standards which will preserve rather than jeopardize the unique
urban character of the East Traditional Neighborhood. This is an opportunity for Eugene's planning effort to "think
outside the box" regarding compact urban growth. Limiting inconsistent and degrading infill in the core area of
this neighborhood is a key to preserving the neighborhood's character. Preserving that character is essential to
the continued desirability of the neighborhood as a place to live. Increased density can and should be
accomplished by the development of medium to high-density residences on the edges of the neighborhood.

Arthur J.
