THE URBAN FUNK SPECTACULAR <br /> <br />AROUND THE CITY <br />Public Comments Invited on Proposed EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant <br />On Wednesday, November 30, City of Eugene and LCOG staff will hold a drop-in session to gather <br />comments and answer questions regarding a potential US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) <br />Brownfields Assessment Grant application. The session will run from 5 – 7 p.m. in the Atrium Building’s <br />thrd <br />Saul Room (99 W. 10 Avenue, 3 floor). <br /> <br />If applied for and received, the $200,000 grant from the EPA would be used to conduct a brownfields <br />assessment of the industrial and commercial zoned properties of the West Eugene industrial area. The <br />target area would include the West Eugene Enterprise Zone and adjoining rail yards, which encompasses <br />a majority of the industrially zoned area within Eugene. The grant application must be submitted no later <br />than December 14, 2005. If awarded, the work would begin in Fall 2006 and conclude in Fall 2008. The <br />grant is expected to be the first step in a process to support economic, environmental, and social vitality <br />within the West Eugene industrial area. <br /> <br />The public comment period for the proposed EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant will begin Wednesday, <br />November 23, and continue through Thursday, December 1.
