<br />RESOLUTION NUMBER 4651 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION TO SUPPORT THE NOVEMBER 2000 GENERAL ELECTION <br />BALLOT MEASURE 84 BY THE EUGENE CITY COUNCIL. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ballot Measure 84 which is on the November 7,2000, general election <br />ballot, would amend the Oregon Constitution to retain the requirement that the State pay local <br />governments for costs of State-mandated programs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the failure of Ballot Measure 84 would have an undetermined cost to local <br />governments in Oregon; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Oregon Constitution currently provides that the State pay for State- <br />mandated programs to the City of Eugene, a local government, and the citizens of Eugene should <br />not be responsible for paying for State-mandated programs. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE, A Municipal <br />Corporation of the State of Oregon, that the Eugene City Council supports Ballot Measure 84. <br /> <br />The foregoing resolution adopted t~b:8~A.<-I <br /> <br /> <br />Deputy City Recorder <br />
