ORDINANCE NO. 20148 <br />AN GRDINANCE CONCERNING VACANCIES GN CITY <br />BOARDS, COMMITTEES AND COMMISSIONS, AND <br />AMENDING SECTION 2.013 OF THE EUGENE CODE,1971. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DUES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Subsection ~~} of Section 2.013 of the Eugene Code,1971, is amended to provide: <br />2.013 Ci Council -Boards Commissions and Committees. <br />~6} A11 appointments to the boards, commissions and comnuttees of the city shall <br />be made as indicated in subsections ~ 1 }and ~2~ above, or as designated by the ordinance or state law <br />creating the board, commission or committee. In nominating or making appointments, the council, <br />mayor, or city manager or designee shall take into consideration information provided by the citizen <br />interest form, and shall nominate or appoint only those persons who at the time of appointment, <br />reside within the city's urban growth boundary. If during their term a member ceases to reside or <br />work, if applicable, within the city's urban growth boundary, the position shall be vacated, effective <br />as of the date a qualified resident from within the city's urban growth boundary willing to serve is <br />appointed to fill the position. The council may waive the residency requirement if the council deems <br />it to be in the best interest of the committee purpose and function. In addition to any other <br />provisions in this code for declaring a position vacant, the council may remove a member from a <br />board, commission or committee and declare the position vacant if a member is absent without leave <br />of the chair from three consecutive meetings of the board, commission or committee of which he or <br />s e is a member. <br />Section 2. The City Recorder, at the request of, or with the concurrence of the City Attorney, <br />is authorized to administratively correct any reference errors contained herein or in other provisions <br />of the Eugene Code,1971, to the provisions added, amended or repealed herein. <br />Passed by the City Council this <br />8th day of March,1999 <br />-, a ~ <br />City Recorder <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />8th day of March,1999 <br />
