ORDINANCE NO. 20154 <br />A SPECIAL ORDINANCE WAIVING THE BUDGET COMMITTEE TERM <br />LIMITATION FUR THE 1999 APPOINTMENTS; AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY, <br />The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that: <br />A. Section 2. o 13 ~ 11 }fib}, of the Eugene Code,1971, provides that members of the budget <br />committee be appointed for terms of three years, and subsequently, upon Council approval, maybe <br />reappointed once to the position upon expiration of the member's term. <br />B. The City Council wishes to waive for the 1999 appointments only the requirement <br />that limits the budget committee members to two terms. <br />Now, THEREFORE, <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The limitation on budget committee member's terms in Section 2.01311}fib} of <br />the Eugene Code, 1971 is hereby waived for the 1999 appointment process only, and the City <br />Council may reappoint members who have already served two terms. <br />Section 2. To provide for the appointment process to go forward as scheduled on May 10, <br />1999, an emergency is declared to exist, and this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon <br />its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor, retention by the Mayor for more than ten <br />days or readoption over a mayoral veto by twoWthirds of all members of the City Council. <br />Passed by the City Council this <br />28fh day of April,1999. <br />City Recorder <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />28~b day of April,1999. <br />
