<br />Streets, sidewalks, and on...street parking <br /> <br />Eleven streets form the area's boundaries or traverse through the area, The <br />following table identifies the major boundary streets for the study area and <br />categorizes each street's traffic impact on the R-210ts that face the street <br /> <br /> Boundary Traffic impact <br /> Streets <br />East-West Streets <br />W. 8Ul Avenue Northern Medium <br />W. The exceptions are listed below: <br /> <br />· Entire east side of Chambers Street (5 blocks, 3 that have R-2 lots) - sidewalk <br />is immediately adjacent to curb. <br /> <br />· All of Filmore Street (2 blocks) - narrow sidewalk is adjacent to street surface <br />(no curb). <br /> <br />· W. Broadway between Almaden and Chambers Streets (2 blocks) - no <br />sidewalk except half a block on south side immediately east of Chambers <br />Street. <br /> <br />· Approximately 80' of north side of 12th Ave. immediately east of Almaden- <br />no sidewalk. <br /> <br />Other than on Chambers Street, the sections without sidewalks and/or parking <br />strips are generally still "pedestrian friendly." For example, although Filmore <br />Street has no parking strip, there is so little traffic on these two blocks that there's <br />almost no noise intrusion or concern for safety. <br /> <br />All streets, except Chambers Street, allow on-street parking on both sides, These <br />parking areas are occupied in the approximate range of25% to 75%. On high- <br />impact streets (such as W, 11th Ave.), on-street parking provides a substantial <br />buffer to pedestrians on the sidewalk.
