I'm writing in regards to the public hearing scheduled for Monday! November 14 that will address the Land Use Code and Zoning Map Amendments. We've been living in the Chambers Area for over 4 years now. We love this neighborhood. Its got charming older homes! beautiful greenscape! including many large trees, and great neighbors. From our house we can walk downtown! to the library! and I walk or bicycle to work downtown every weekday. As you know! we are under the constant threat of negative infill which is seriously degrading the neighborhood. Fortunately the City has been conducting the Chambers Revisited project in an effort to put in place design standards that make sense! from the standpoint of preserving the neighborhood character and allowing for infill that contributes in a positive way. I've been involved with CAFHN in working with the City Planning Dept. in an effort to help define the design standards. I think the standards put forth by the City Planning Dept. are appropriate for our neighborhood! flexible, and in addition they meet all Metro and City density goals. Let me also say that I found the process of working with the City Planners in defining the standards to be a positive and encouraging experience.
