THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The S tote of Oregon has funded and proposes to reconstruct and widen 6th and 7th Avenues between Garfield and High Streets, These streets form a part of Gregon Highway 99, At least twenty-six trees that are defined as "historic street trees" by the City Charter will be removed if the streets are widened, New street trees will be planted and other landscaping will be done as part of the construc- tion project. Section 2. Preliminary plans and specifications and statements of the impact of this project have been made available to the public at City Hall, A map and description of the project will be published once a week far four consecutive weeks prior to the election of March 26, 1985 in the Eugene Register Guard, a newspaper of general circulation within the City of Eugene, Section 3. The City Manager is authorized to enter into agreements with the State of ~regan and others at any time prior to March 26, 1998 to facilitate this construction project, Any such agreement with the State shall require an allocation of part of the project funds to the maintenance of the City's historic street trees. Section 4. These matters concern the peace, health and safety of the c i t i ~ ens of E ugene and an emergency is hereby declared to exist. This Ordinance shall became effective immediately upon its approval by the voters of the city. Section 2. The proposed Measure shall be placed upon the official ballot by the City Recorder, There shall be furnished to the County Clerk for Lane County certified copies of the ballot title for the Measure, The City Attorney shall prepare and the City Recorder shall furnish the ballot title far the Measure and direct that the County Clerk for Lane County place the Measure upon the ballot to be used at the special city election to be held on March 26, 1985, to be voted upon by the electors of the City. 2 - Ordinance
