<br />Alley access arcel. A parcel abutting an alley and created
<br />from the rear portion of an existing lot or parcel according to
<br />alley access provisions of the Eugene Code, 1911.
<br />Amendment. Either ~1~ an amendment to or a change in the
<br />text of the Land Qivision or Zoning ordinance, or ~~} a change in
<br />zoning designation of a particular lot or lots.

<br />Arterial. A street which is used primarily far through
<br />traffic, or which by its location will likely be needed for such
<br />use in the normal growth of the community.
<br />Automobile. Private passenger car.
<br />Bed and breakfast facility, A dwelling, as opposed to a
<br />hotel, motel, or rooming house, where travelers are lodged far
<br />sleeping purposes, with a morning meal provided, and for which
<br />compensation is paid and received.
<br />Bicycle ,stor,age space. A space for one standard bicycle
<br />within an adequately lighted, secure bicycle rack, placed in a
<br />paved area.
<br />Block len th. The distance measured along all that part
<br />of one side of a street which is between two intersecting or
<br />intercepting streets, or between an intersecting or intercepting
<br />street and a railroad right-of-way, water course, body of water,
<br />or undivided acreage.
<br />Blood bank. An organization that accepts human whole blood,
<br />donated voluntarily, and for which no financial compensation is
<br />received.

<br />Buildin A structure built and maintained far the support,
<br />shelter or enclosure of persons, motar~ vehicles, animals, or per-
<br />sonal or real property of any kind.
<br />Buildin„~_ hei„~„ht. The vertical distance above a reference
<br />datum measured to the highest point of the coping of a flat
<br />roof, to the deck line of a mansard roof, or to the average
<br />height of the highest gable of a pitched or hipped roof. The
<br />height of a stepped or terraced building is the maximum height
<br />of any segment of that building. The reference datum shat 1 be
<br />whichever of the following two measurements results in the
<br />greater building height see Figure 1~:
