Objective 1~, Page I I I-~B-4 of the Metropolitan Plan provides direction to <br />accommodate a mixture of office, commercial and industrial uses. <br />H. Policy 1Z, Page III-B-5 directs that efforts be maintained to stren then <br />the central business districts of Eu g <br />gene. <br />~. Policy 5.0, page 7 of the adapted I984 Community Goals and Policies <br />document, directs the City of Eugene to work with educational institution s <br />and to caordi Hate research activities with 1 oval efforts to attract firms. <br />J, Policy I,O, page 9 of the Community Goals and Policies document directs <br />that the City support the University of Oregon`s efforts in education <br />research, training, and technology development. ' <br />K. The draft Riverfrant Study page 2} indicates that, "development in the <br />R~ verf rout Park i s i ntended to p1 ay a critical role i n the metropo 1 i tan <br />area's economy by providing an unusual opportunity to devely an <br />industrial area that su orts a P <br />~~ pp nd utilizes research activities of the <br />University of Oregon. The draft Study also notes that this type of <br />development is envisioned as a critical factor in attracting and formin <br />new i ndustri al activities because g <br />of the potential for the exchange of <br />concepts and techniques between University of Oregon researchers and <br />industries which produce and market related technologies . <br />L.
