Table x of the working Paper on Parks and Recreation shawl that the <br />metropolitan area has an inventory of about 5,DZD acres of <br />Regional/Metropolitan Park and Open Space. <br />D. vacant ,and underdeveloped land within the Riverfront Park Study area <br />comprise about , 9% of that inventory. <br />E. The Metropolitan Plan Working Paper inventory included only those lands <br />used for park purposes or owned by a general purpose government for future <br />park and open space purposes. <br />F. A major east-west bicycle path the South Bank Trail}, which serves <br />recreational as well as transportation needs, passes through the Study <br />area. <br />J. Policies Bl, page 8 and D4, page 10 of the draft Riverfront Park Special <br />Area Study will require retention of the east-west bicycle facility and <br />direct that it be relocated closer to the river as part of any <br />development i n the area. <br />K. Based on these findings, the draft Riverfront Study and the proposed <br />Metropolitan Plan amendment comply with requirements of Goal #$, <br />Recreational Needs. <br />Goad 9. Econom <br />A. Goal g of the Statewide Goals identifies the need to, "diversify and <br />improve the economy of the state." <br />B. The"Economic Working Paper" ~~918} and the "Economic - Addendum" X1981} <br />of the Metropolitan Plan describe the area's economy. <br />C. The Metropolitan Plan page ~iI--B_31} establishes the goal of <br />diversifying the local economy. <br />D. Policy 17, Page II~--B-6 of the Metropolitan Plan provided direction for <br />establishment of "special light industrial sites" to accommodate new <br />"large-scale, campus-~type, light manufacturing uses." <br />E.
