City-wide Community Forum: A city-wide community forum was held at

?
Churchill High School in April, 2004 to brainstorm and identify key projects
in each of the six planning sub-areas. Over 70 community members
participated in a four-hour community discussion.
Eugene Outdoors Special Addition: Eugene Outdoors, a publication of the

?
City of Eugene Parks and Open Space Division featured the PROS Plan and
projects in each planning area. The newsletter was delivered via mail to all
Eugene residents, including residents of Santa Clara. See Attachment G-
Eugene Outdoors!.
Planning Area Community Forums: Community forums in each of the six

?
planning areas were extensively advertised and held in February and March
of 2005 to collect input on the draft plan and individual projects.

b)The 1989 Park and Recreation Plan did identify numerous projects for Santa

Clara as it did for all areas of the City. Unfortunately funding shortages
made most of these identified projects impossible to implement across the
entire city. Not until the passage of the Parks and Open Space Bond Measure
in 1998 was funding available to begin project implementation on a
significant scale.

c)The 1998 bond measure identified several projects in Santa Clara, all but one

of which are complete. See Attachment D- Santa Clara Park and Service
Area Map. The bond measure specified the following projects for Santa
Clara:
Acquisition of five neighborhood park sites

?
Acquisition of one community park site

?
Development of Arrowhead Park

?
Development of Awbrey Park

?

All five neighborhood park sites have been acquired and include:
Lone Oak Park

?
Filbert Meadows Park

?
Wendover Park

?
Terra Linda Park

?
Ferndale Park

?

The development of Arrowhead and Awbrey Parks are complete.

The acquisition of a community park has been an active work item for several
years. Staff continue to work on this complex issue and are doing so in
conjunction with the Santa Clara Citizens for Sensible Parks.

Attachment B January 18, 2006 Page 4
