ORDINANCE NO. 19379 <br />AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE CHANGE OF NAME 0 F REGENT <br />AVENUE TO BOARDWALK AVENUE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that: <br />Residents of a 130 foot portion of Regent Avenue have requested a <br />change of name of that portion of the street to Boardwalk. The ortion <br />in uestion is se orate f p <br />q p rom the rest of Regent Avenue, and a review of <br />the vTClnity map reflects that the extension of Regent Avenue is Board <br />walk. <br />The request has been reviewed by City staff, and it appears that <br />this portion of the street should have been renamed when the Park Place <br />Subdivision was built, but was overlooked. <br />The Planning Commission of the City of Eugene did, on February 10 1956 <br />hold a public hearing on the request. Referrals were sent to 1l affected <br />parties,~and no objections or opposition to the change of name were <br />received or presented at the hearing, and the Planning Commission <br />recommended to the City Council that the portion of the street <br />known as Regent Avenue as described on Exhibit A hereto be changed to <br />Boardwalk Avenue, <br />Notice of a public hearing to be held on the 19th day of March, 1956 <br />in the Council Chambers, City Hall, Eugene, Oregon, at 11:45 a.m. o.f said <br />day, was.duly published in the Eugene Register•~Guard, a newspa er of eneral <br />_ c~rculatTOn within t e ~ p g <br />h city, at least once during the week ~mmed~ate1y <br />proceeding the hearing, to•~wit, on thel0th day of March, 19SG. At t <br />that time and place, the Council heard all <br />objections and comments with respect to the change of name of Re ent <br />Avenue to Boardwalk A e g <br />v nue. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that due and <br />regular notice of the hearing on the change of name of Regent Avenue to <br />Boardwalk Avenue was published as by law required and that no valid <br />objections have been made at the hearing or filed herein, and the ublic <br />interest w~11 not be re 'u ' P <br />p ~ diced by the change of name. <br />Section Z. The name and designation of the portion of the present <br />Regent Avenue <br />as described in Exhibit A, attached hereto, is hereby changed to Boardwalk <br />Avenue. <br />Section 3. The City Manager shall cause appropriate signs to be <br />insta]led indicating that Regent Avenue is now Boardwalk Avenue. <br />
