ORDINANCE N0. _~ <br />AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE CHANGE OF NAME OF LONGFELLOW WAY <br />TO WOODSIDE DRI~fE; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that: <br />Residents of Longfellow Way have re nested a chap a of name of ' <br />q g this <br />street to Woads~de Drive. Their concern is that, at present, Woodside Drive <br />has no visual connection to either Cal Young Road or Coburg Road and is <br />difficult to 1 ovate by emergency services . <br />The request has been reviewed by. Ci ty staff , and ref erred to appro ri ate <br />uti 1 i ti es and ubl i c a enci es ~a ~ p <br />p g ~ 1i of which recommend approval of the street <br />name change. <br />The P1 anni ng Commission of the ,City of Eugene did, on May 5, 1986, held a <br />public hearing on the request. Referrals were sent to 13 affected arties <br />p <br />and no objections or apposition to the change of name were received ar <br />presented at the hearing, and the Planning Commission recommended to the Cit <br />Counci 1 that Lon fel 1 ow Wa descri y <br />9 y, bed an Exh~b~t A, hereto be changed to <br />Woodside Drive. <br />Notice of a publ i c head ng to be held an the 16th day of June, 1986 i n the <br />Council Chambers, City Hall, Eugene, Oregon, at 7:30 p.m. of said day, was <br />duly published in the Eugene Register-Guard, a newspaper of enera1 <br />circulation wi thi n the ci t a g <br />y, t least ,once during the week immediately <br />preceeding the hearing, to-wit, on the 16th day of June, 1986. At that time <br />and place, the Council heard all objections and comments with respect to the <br />change of name of Langfel 1 ow Way to Woodside Drive. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />THE CITY DF EUGENE ODES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of Eugene finds that due and <br />regular notice of the hearing on the change of name of Longfellow Way to <br />Woodside Drive was published as by law required and that na valid objections <br />have been made at the hearing or filed herein, and the public interest wi11 <br />not be prejudiced by the change of name. <br />Section 2. The name and designation of the portion of the present <br />Longfellow Way as described in Exhibit ~;, attached hereto, is hereby chap ed <br />to Woodside Drive . g <br />Section 3. The City Manager sha11 cause appropriate signs to be <br />i nstal l ed indicating that Longfellow Way i s now Woodside Drive. <br />Section 4. That certified copies of this Ordinance shall be filed with <br />the Lane County Retarder, Lane County Assessor, and the Lane County Surveyor. <br />Section 5. That the matters contained herein concern the public welfare <br />and safety and therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this <br />Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage by the Cit <br />Council and a royal b the Ma or. y <br />PP y Y <br />
