8.205 Standards for, and Identification of, Materials A liances and <br />E ui ment. <br />~1} Except as the Electrical Cvde prescribes to the contrary, <br />materials, appliances and equipment incorporated into electrical instal1a- <br />t~ons subject to this code, or sold or offered for sale for that purpose, <br />shall bear the registered label or listing mark of a nationally recognized <br />electrical-safety-testing laboratory or other electrical-safety-testing <br />laboratory that the fire marshal finds to be as rigorous and reliable in its <br />electrical-safety testing as any such nationally recognized laboratory. Any <br />such finding shat 1 have legal effect ant y after the fire marshal states the <br />finding in writing and files it with the city recorder, where it shall be <br />available for public inspection during regular office hours. Before making <br />the finding the fire marshal shall give the public 30 days' advance notice <br />posted at the city hall, and send electricians licensed by the city 30 days' <br />advance notice by first-class mail that he intends so to state and file the <br />finding. Within 30 days after the finding is so stated and filed, any person <br />aggrieved by ~t may request the fire marshal to reconsider it. The fire <br />marshal shall then set a time and place in the city for a public hearing on <br />the finding, and shall give the aggrieved person, by first-class mail, and <br />the public, by posting at the city hall, 30 days' advance notice of the hear- <br />ing. At the hearing any interested person may present information and argu- <br />ment regarding the finding. Within 30 days after the hearing the fire mar- <br />shal shall restate the finding, modify it or rescind it, state in writing <br />his reasons for doing so, and file the restatement, modification ar rescis- <br />sion with the city recorder. Legal effect of the restatement, modification <br />ar rescission shall begin as soon as it is so filed. <br />~2} Used materials, appliances and equipment that have been taken <br />out of use for electrical purposes shall, before again being put to such use, <br />be reconditioned or remodeled to whatever extent is necessary to bring them <br />into compliance with this chapter. <br />Section 3.
