ORDINANCE N0. 19530 <br />AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING SIGN CODE REGULATIONS; AMENDING <br />SECTIONS 8.620, 8.630, 5.635, AND 8.640 OF THE EUGENE CODE, <br />1971; REPEALING SECTION 8.680 OF THAT CODE; AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Section 8.620 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is amended by add- <br />ing the following in alphabetical order therein: <br />5.620 Definitions. <br />. Awns, A temporary shelter supported entirely from the exter- <br />~or wall of a bu~ld~ng. <br />Section 2. Subsections ~a}2. and ~a}3, of Section 8.630 of the Eugene <br />Code, 1971 are amended, and anew Subsection ~a}6, is added thereto, to ro- <br />p <br />vide: <br />8.630 Pedestrian-Auto District. This district is mainly found in the <br />Eugene central business and retail district which is designated <br />Major Retail Center in the Metropolitan Area General P1 an. Sign heights, <br />locations, and dimensions in this district are based on the visibility needs <br />of pedestrians and slow moving traffic. The following identity signs, and <br />incidental signs shall be permitted on properties located within areas <br />designated as "Pedestrian-Auto District" on the Sign District Map: <br />~a} Si ns on bui 1 di n wal 1 s located oral l el to the street <br />ro ert l i nes . <br />2. Projectin si n. One projecting identity sign, which <br />shall be entirely contained within the building occupancy area <br />from not less than eight feet above the sidewalk or grade <br />line. The surface area of a projecting sign shall be included <br />in the total allowable sign area as provided in subsection~l. <br />above. <br />a. The maximum projection beyond the street prop- <br />erty line shall be four feet six inches. The maximum <br />width of a projecting sign shall be four feet two inches <br />with an additional four Inches maximum provided for <br />ancharage.of the sign to the building structure. A pro- <br />0ect~ng sign may not project within two feet of any curb <br />ar driveway l7ne. <br />b. A projecting sign may have an additional three <br />inches in height per one inch reduction in allowable <br />projection as specified above, but shall not extend into <br />the adjacent story occupancy unless relinquished as pro- <br />v~ded ~n subsection ~a}1.b. above, <br />Ordinance - 1 <br />
