8.640 Outl in Commercial District. Areas in this district are usually <br />designated,neighborhoad ar community commercial, or strip or street- <br />or~ented commercial in the Metropolitan Area General Plan. They are approach- <br />ed primarily by car at city arterial speeds. The businesses are not neces- <br />sarily under one management so all the regulations applied to the integrated <br />shopping district cannot be used. Projecting signs are allowed for each <br />business, but none is as large as the single identity sign for an integrated <br />shopping center. The brightness, intensity and location standards in these <br />areas are intended to protect the surrounding residential areas. The follow- <br />ing signs shall be permitted on properties located within areas designated <br />as "Out]ying Commercial District" on the Sign District Map: <br />fie} Marquee,,~sig,ns. One under marquee sign having a maximum <br />projection of seven feet, and not less than eight feet above the <br />sidewalk or grade line. Far purposes of computing sign area, signs <br />on faces of a marquee shall be considered as part of the total sur- <br />face area. <br />Section 5. Section 8.680 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is repealed. <br />Section 6. The Council specifically finds that the amendments provided <br />for herein are necessary in order to comply with state mandated building code <br />regulations and to facilitate the City~s adopted and funded awning program. <br />Therefore, Statewide Land Use Planning Goals do not apply. <br />Section 1. The City Recorder, at the request of or with the concurrence <br />of the City Attorney, is authorized to administratively correct any reference <br />errors contained herein or in other provisions of the Eugene Cade, 1971, to <br />the provisions amended, added ar repealed herein, <br />Section 7.
