ORDINANCE N0. 19589 <br />AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING MISCELLANEOUS SIGNS; AMENDING <br />SECTION 5.670 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Section 5,570 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is amended to ro- <br />p <br />vide: <br />8.570 Miscellaneous Signs. <br />~ 1 } Pub1 ~,c , Sins . Al 1 signs erected by a publ i c officer i n the <br />performance of a public duty are exempted from all of the rovisions of this <br />code exce t re ulati p <br />f p g ons perta~n~ng to construction and safety. <br />~2} The following signs are exempted from the re uirements of this <br />code to obtain a ermi q <br />p t. <br />~a}• Tem arar si ns. One non-illuminated pole or wall tem- <br />porary sign not exceeding eight feet in height and 32 square feet <br />per face in area may be located on each tract of pro ert . The <br />si n sha11 on1 p y <br />g y be al 1 awed for a total of 90 days and then shal 1 <br />be removed. <br />fib} Traffic directin si ns, Non-illuminated si ns erected <br />far the ur ose of • g <br />p p traffic or pedestrian d~rect~on, not exceeding <br />three square feet of surface area for each sign and one such si n <br />per entrance to an remises. g <br />•y p Such signs on paved areas shall be <br />exempt from the s~~e standards ~nd~cated above. A si n of not <br />more than 12 s uare fe g <br />q et of surface area, and not more than eight <br />feet ~n height, used only to identify and locate a service entrance <br />or service facility, provided that such sign cannot project an <br />further than that allowed i ~ y <br />n the underlying sign d~str~ct. <br />~c} Small non-illuminated si ns. Attached to a buildin u <br />to 12 s uare feet and not e ~ g p <br />q xceed~ng eight feet ~n height. <br />~d} Bus si ns. Non-illuminated signs attached to the exter- <br />iors of buses operated by amass transit district or anized under <br />ORS Cha ter 267 so g <br />p long as the surface area of all such signs <br />placed upon a vehicle does not exceed 11,034 s uare inches and <br />the surface q <br />area of signs placed upon any one side of a vehicle <br />does not exceed 4,320 square inches. <br />~e}. Institutional si ns. Any sign of any public, charitable <br />or religious institution, when located on the premises of such <br />institution, provided such sign shall not exceed 32 s uare feet in <br />surface area and is ' q <br />. ,, .indirectly lighted. Reader board signs are <br />permitted with a maximum surface area of 32 square feet, either <br />wall-mounted or pole-mounted, with a maximum hei ht of ei ht feet. <br />f Confer g g <br />. ~ } ence and convention si ns.
