THE AUDITOR SHOULD HAVE EQUAL ACCESS <br />TO ALL DATA AND MATERIAL, JUST LIKE IA AND JUST LIKE THE CHIEF. <br />PERIOD, NO CAVEATS. WHOEVER THE AUDITOR -ITHEY NEED THE <br />HIGHEST SECURITY CLEARANCE TO DO THE JOB. THERE ARE UNTOLD <br />WAYS THE ABOVE CAVEATS CAN BE CONSTRUED TO BEGGAR THE <br />AUDITOR'S AUTHORITY AND EFFECTIVENESS. REMEMBER IT IS ALL <br />ABOUT TRANSPARENCY. <br />PROPOSED DELETION; <<The police auditor shall have complete and <br />unrestricted access <br />to all complaint and investigative records and materials, <br />and any other information necessary for the performance of <br />his/her specified duties. >> <br />PUT THE ABOVE PROPOSED DELETION BACK INTO THE ORDINANCE! <br />YOU'VE GOT TO BE WONDERING WHY THEY WANT TO TAKE IT OUT! <br />As provided in section 2.456(2)(d <br />f), the police auditor shall not have access to a criminal <br />investigation file until the conclusion of any such criminal investigation. <br />DELETE THIS, THE AUDITOR SHALL HAVE ACCESS TO THE FILE AT ANY <br />TIME DURING THE INVESTIGATION. OTHERWISE HOW CAN IT BE <br /> MONITORED? <br />. JUST INCLUDE AMENDMENT #3 AS WRITTEN BELOW. <br /> [Amendment #3: “Upon the opening of a case file, <br />and any time thereafter including closed cases, the <br />Police auditor shall have complete, unrestricted, and <br />direct access to all records, evidence, documents, <br />and all material the Police Auditor deems relevant to <br />the complaint.” <br />[Amendment #5, second sentence: “In addition, the <br />Police Auditor shall have complete, unrestricted, and <br />direct access to Internal Affairs PRO database the same as the program <br />coordinator and the Internal <br />Affairs PRO supervisor.” <br />[Amendment #6: “The Police Auditor shall maintain <br />strict name confidentiality wherever warranted or legal <br />required.
