ORDINANCE NO. ~~~Q <br />AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING ELECTIONS; AMENDING SECTION <br />2.981 OF THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS; <br />Section 1. Subsections 4.2 } and ~ 3 ~ of Section 2.9 81 of the <br />Eugene Cade, 1971, are hereby amended to read and provide: <br />2.9$1 Elections -~ Initiative and Referendum, voting on Measure. <br />~2~ The time for voting on legislation submitted to <br />the electors under subsection ~l~ of this section shall be the <br />first primary or general election. held more than 94 days after <br />the finance officer certifies verification under section 2.979 <br />of the signatures on the petition for so submitting the legis- <br />lation, unless the council calls an earlier special election <br />far voting on the legislation. The special election may not <br />be held earlier than 6D days after verification of the peti- <br />tion. <br />X32 An ordinance adopted by the council and referred <br />by petition shall be submitted to the electors by the finance <br />officer at the times required or perr~itted by subsection ~2~ <br />of this section. <br />Section 2. That the matters contained herein affect the public <br />welfare, and in order to provide for the orderly administration of <br />the City's election procedures, an emergency is hereby declared to <br />exist, and this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon <br />its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />Passed by the City Council this <br />29th day of June, 1983 <br />~~a~.~. 4~-ec9-~..ow..._ <br />City ecorder <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />29th day of June, 1983 <br />7 <br />Mayor <br />Ordinance <br />
