ORDINANCE N0. ~a ~ ~ o <br />AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING DISPOSAL OF PERSONAL <br />PROPERTY; AMENDING SECTION 2.$35 OF THE EUGENE <br />CODE, 1971; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Subsection ~ 3 ~ of Section ~. 835 of the Eugene Code, <br />1971, is hereby amended to read and provide: <br />2.835 <br />~3~ If no person appears and establishes his ownership <br />of or interest in the property prior to the expiration of six <br />months after the date that the personal property has come into <br />the possession of the police department, the city shall sell <br />the property pursuant to section 2.$4D, or upon approval of the <br />city manager shall transfer the property to public use by enter <br />ing it on the city's fixed asset inventory, or if the personal <br />property is a weapon described in section 4.885 of this code or <br />declared unlawful to possess by state 1a~r, it shall be destroyed <br />by the chief of police. <br />Section 2. That the provisions contained herein affect the public <br />welfare and safety and therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to <br />exist, and this Ordinance shall became effective immediately upon <br />its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />Passed by the City Council this <br />8th day of August, 1983 <br />~~~~ ,City Recorder <br />Approved by the Mayor this <br />8th day of August, 983 <br />,,,~~ `-° <br />Mayo <br />ordinance. <br />
