Mr. <br />Middleton will present information about candidates collected during the recruitment process (via <br />conference call) and give his professional recommendations regarding the top candidates. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br />The position of Police Auditor has been vacant since August 22, 2008. The application deadline for this <br />recruitment was December 8, 2008. Following an interview process February 23-25, Council decided to <br />adjust the minimum qualifications and reopen the recruitment through March 26, 2009. Mr. Middleton <br />will present the updated candidate pool and get the council’s direction on the next steps, including which <br />candidates they would like to move forward in the interview process. In order to expedite the interview <br />process, staff will seek confirmation by the council after the executive session about the interview <br />process components and possible interview dates. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />This item is not directly related to a City policy. However, the hiring of a Police Auditor relates to the <br />council values of a “Safe Community” and “Effective, Accountable Municipal Government.” <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br />The council may: <br />? <br /> <br />Direct Mr. Middleton and Alliance Resource Consulting to arrange for candidates they select to <br />move forward to the interview process for this position and include possible interview dates for <br />this process. <br />? <br /> <br />Direct Mr. Middleton and Alliance Resource Consulting to reopen the recruitment. <br />? <br /> <br />Approve the use of the previous interview components, including questions, individual panel <br />members, community panel members, etc. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of the same interview process components, questions, individual <br />stakeholders and panels. <br /> <br /> <br /> Z:\CMO\2009 Council Agendas\M090408\S090408A.doc <br /> <br />
