Supporting existing business, Provide sustainability consultation to businesses to enhance their profitability and competitiveness retaining existing jobs, & creating new jobs <br />Idea <br />Status <br />JOB CREATION: <br />ECONOMIC GROWTH <br />(continued) <br />$ <br />Allow greater overlap of land use application and BPS process (more concurrent reviews, limited <br />use/development of property while land use process pending) <br />$ <br />Consider Extension of Compliance Deadlines in cases where economic hardship exists. Applicable <br />to non-life safety compliance only. <br />$ <br />Increase education, outreach to developers on land use process, expectations, etc. <br />$ <br />Reduce number and size of plans that are required to be submitted. Enable on-line submittal as a <br />cost saving measure to applicants. <br />$ <br />Inform River Road and Santa Clara residents that simple room & garage additions will not trigger <br />annexation. <br />$ <br />Reduce Hearings Official (HO) costs (which could reduce application fees) by: <br />• Increasing teleconference HO meetings <br />• Sharing HO duties regionally <br />$ <br />Engage developers & lenders in an ongoing dialogue regarding barriers to desired development & <br />how to overcome those barriers. <br />$ <br />Provide sustainability consultation to businesses to enhance their profitability and competitiveness <br />$ <br />$ <br />Opportunity Siting (OS) process is progressing and setting up a framework to encourage <br />development that meets multiple goals: <br />• Fast path for OS approvals. <br />• Free limited consultations for OS projects. <br />• Develop a more flexible review path, such as design review or over-arching adjustment review. <br />• Allow more flexibility in adjusting multiple-family standards specifically. <br />• Use MUPTE as a tool for job creation & future tax generation for development on O sites. <br />• Increase certainty for obtaining financial incentives before extensive investment is made in a <br />schematic design that may not qualify. <br />• Defer SDC’s <br />• Reduce SDC’s in the core area of the city where dense development is encouraged. <br />• Facilitate zone changes or up-zoning for opportunity sites. <br />• Make sustainable building methods and materials one of the criteria for incentive eligibility. <br />• Establish an annual budget for OS development. <br />• City help with property acquisition for O sites. <br /> <br />
