See also Section 1D.301. <br />6. Group B, Division 2 occupancies: <br />A. In retail salesrooms classified as Group B, <br />Division 2, occupancies where the floor area exceeds <br />12,000 square feet on any floor or 24,000 square feet on <br />all floors. <br />B. In buildings used for high-piled combustible <br />storage, fire protection shall be in accordance with <br />Article 81. <br />7. Group SR occupancies: <br />A. Division 1 occupancies. Partial automatic <br />sprinkler system is required as specified. <br />~1} Automatic sprinklers as specified in NFPA <br />Standard 13, 1978 edition, using standard pipe <br />sizing and head spacing in required locations shall <br />be installed in the following areas: <br />i, exit corridors: <br />ii, exit stairways; <br />iii , inside room entrance ~cor r idor } <br />doors or other openings which face on interior <br />exit ways. Single-head location shall be no <br />more than six and no less than four feet <br />inside doors except that when side--wall <br />sprinklers are used they shall be located <br />above the opening. <br />iv, any other points necessary to ensure <br />the protection of the exit way. <br />~2} A water supply shall be provided suf- <br />ficient to operate at least five sprinkler heads <br />simultaneously for a period of 20 minutes at a <br />residual pressure of not less than 15 pounds a <br />square inch at the highest head in the system. <br />Such supply may originate from: <br />i, domestic water supply; <br />ii, separate connections to public mains; <br />iii , on-~s ite reservoirs or tanks, or <br />iv, wet standpipe lines. <br />~3} Building fire-alarm systems shall be con- <br />nected to a sprinkler system water--flow device. <br />~4} Systems shall be equipped with afire <br />department connection and a swing check valve on <br />the supply side. <br />EXCEPTIoN: The fire department connection may <br />be omitted when the water supply to the building is <br />capable of simultaneously operating the number of <br />sprinkler heads installed in the two largest <br />..g_ <br />
