oRDINANC~ No. <br />AN ORDII~ANCE CONCERNING THE PROFESSIONAL <br />OFFICE SIGN D2STRICT; ADDING SECTION 8.656 <br />TG THE EUGENE CODE, 1971; AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />THE CITY of EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FoLLOwS. <br />Section 1. There is hereby added to the Eugene Code, 1971, <br />a new section to be numbered and provide: <br />8.656 Professional-office Sign District. Within the pro- <br />fessional-office sign district signs shall be designed <br />for vehicles traveling at an average speed of 25 - 35 miles <br />per hour. Large office building complexes require more sign- <br />ing than permitted in the residential sign district, yet the <br />signing must be compatible with the neighboring residential <br />property. <br />{a} All signs within the professional_office <br />district are subject to the following provisions: <br />1. All signs must comply with .yard and <br />setback requirements of the zoning ordinance; <br />and <br />2. Illumination shall comply with the <br />requirements of section S. 655 {a} 1 and 2 of this <br />code. <br />{.b} The fallowing signs shall be permitted in <br />the professional-office district. <br />1. An individual business located within <br />the professional-office district shall be per- <br />mitted one free-standing or wall-mounted identity <br />sign, not exceeding 32 square feet in surface <br />area. Free-standing signs shall have a maximum <br />height of S feet above grade; wall signs shall <br />have na height limitation. <br />2. Multiple businesses occupying one <br />building shall be allowed one overall free- <br />standing or wall-mounted identity sign with a <br />maximum surface area of 32 square feet. In <br />addition, each separate business occupancy shall <br />be permitted one wall-mounted identity name <br />plate, at a maximum size of 12 square feet in <br />surface area; such sign to be located within the <br />occupancy perimeter of the advertised business. <br />Section 2. That the matters contained herein concern the <br />public welfare, and in order to insure the orderly administration <br />of the City's sign code, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, <br />and this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its pas- <br />ordinance - 1 <br />
