Mr. Poling agreed with Ms. Ortiz that it would be inadvisable to for staff to spend time formally <br />opposing a bill that would ultimately have little effect on the City of Eugene and noted that he would be <br />voting in opposition to the motion. <br />Ms. Taylor called for a vote on Ms. Ortiz’s previously stated motion. The <br />motion passed, 2:1 (Mr. Poling voting in opposition). <br />HB 2182A – Relating to small scale local energy projects. <br />Ms. Wilson provided a brief description of HB 2182A to the committee members and noted that staff was <br />currently recommending a Priority 3 support position regarding the bill. <br />Ms. Ortiz, seconded by Mr. Poling, moved to adopt a Priority 3 support <br />position regarding HB 2182A. The motion passed unanimously, 3:0. <br />HB 2578A – Relating to towers. <br />Ms. Wilson provided a brief description of HB 2578A to the committee members and noted that staff was <br />currently recommending that the bill be dropped from consideration by the committee. <br />Ms. Piercy commented that the committee should adopt a support position regarding HB 2578A. <br />Parking Services Manager Jeff Petry noted that the bill would only affect private parking facilities and not <br />city parking facilities and that as such the bill would have little effect on the City of Eugene. <br />Mr. Poling responded to Mr. Petry’s commented and noted that he and other city councilors still received <br />angry calls from their constituents regarding parking matters regardless of whether the matter pertained to <br />a city or private parking facility. <br />Mr. Poling, seconded by Ms. Ortiz, moved to adopt a Priority 3 support <br />position regarding HB 2578A. The motion passed unanimously, 3:0. <br />HB 3336 – Relating to nonpartisan offices. <br />Ms. Wilson provided a brief description of HB 3336 to the committee members and noted that staff was <br />currently recommending a Priority 3 neutral position regarding the bill. <br />Ms. Piercy commented that the committee should adopt an opposition position regarding HB 3336. <br />Ms. Wilson noted that the bill in its current form did not appear to be moving forward in the legislative <br />session. <br />Ms. Ortiz, seconded by Mr. Poling, moved to adopt a Priority 3 oppose <br />position regarding HB 3336.
