as well as public sewers in streets and easements. The realism of
the exercises was enhanced by the work of local
professional makeup artist David Pratt. “Victims” included
volunteers from the local Wellsprings Friends School and
clients of Eugene’s Moonlight Talent agency. The
department appreciates the participation of the volunteers,
who provide scenarios far superior to what can be achieved
using mannequins. The unpredictable behavior of the
actors makes the drills more realistic, often providing
unanticipated but valuable circumstances and situations
against which recruits are evaluated. The current class of recruits will graduate from the 13-week academy at
nd
ceremonies scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, at the Emergency Services Center at 2 and Chambers.
