(H $0-2) <br />ORDINANCE N0. ~~ <br />AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE EUGENE MILL AND ELEVATOR <br />AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK WITHIN THE CITY OF EUGENE, OREGON <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EUGENE FINDS THAT: <br />Pursuant to Sections 2.402, 2.447, and 2.408 of the Eugene Code, 1971, <br />the City Council has the authority and responsibility, subject to the limitations <br />contained therein, to designate certain buildings, structures, other physical <br />objects, including their sites, and gevgraphi c areas wi thi n the City as Hi stori c <br />Landmarks. <br />Based upon the report received from the Historic Review Board, the <br />materials that have been transmitted therewith, and the evidence presented before <br />the Historic Review Board and this Council, the application for designation as <br />an Historic Landmark i s consistent with applicable statewide and 1 acal ly-adopted <br />plans, and the Eugene Mi 11 and E1 evator, for which Hi stori c Landmark desi gna- <br />tion has been requested meets one or more of the criteria required for Historic <br />Landmark desi gnat i an. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, <br />Based upon the foregoing, the City Council hereby adopts as its own the <br />specific affirmative findings contained in the Historic Review Board staff notes <br />and minutes of May 29, 1950, for the reasons set forth therein, and <br />THE CITY OF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. Under authority of Section 2.405 of the Eugene Code, 1971, <br />the Eugene Mill and El evator which is located on the following described real <br />property i s hereby designated as an Historic Landmark. <br />Beginning at the Northerly right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific <br />Company within the City of Eugene at a poi nt 400 feet South and 139 feet <br />Sast of the Northwest corner of the Hi lyard Shaw Donation Land C3 aim No, <br />56, Township l7 South, Range 3 West of the Willamette Meridian; said point <br />being 40 feet distant Westerly when measured at right angles toy the <br />relocated center 1 i ne of the Ferry Street Bridge 6th and 7th Street <br />Connection at Engineer's 5tati on 13+72.45; thence North 54° 43' West along <br />the Northerly right-of-way line of the Southern Pacific Railroad 342.49 <br />feet to the South right-of-way line of 5th Avenue; thence East 127 feet to <br />the East end of said 5th Avenue; thence along said East end North 66 feet; <br />thence West 51.4 feet to the Southwest corner of fractional Lot S, Block <br />10, EUGENE CITY, as platted and recorded in Book "A", Page 2, Lane County <br />Oregon Judgment Docket; thence North 160 feet to the Northwest corner of <br />fractional Lot 5 of said B1 ock 15; thence East to the intersection of the <br />North 1 i ne of Lot 6, Block 11, EUGENE CITY, with the West 1 i ne of that <br />tract conveyed to the State of Oregon, by Deed recorded March 16, 1949, in <br />ORDINANCE--Page 1 of 2 <br />
