IBT2o <br />5.575 vehicles. in Mall -- Permittee obligation. <br />~~} The permittee shall have in his possession the <br />permit issued by the parks and recreation director when access <br />to the pedestrian mall. area is taken and should be prepared to <br />present the access permit to mall personnel or police upon re- <br />quest. <br />Section 4. Section 5.580 of the Eugene Code, 171, is hereby <br />amended to provide:. <br />5.584 vehicles in Mall ~- Utility Ca~npanies, Private Contrac- <br />tors. <br />~1} Utility companies which hold franchise agreements <br />with the city may be issued annual permits, which will permit <br />routine access to the pedestrian mall area for inspection of <br />equipment and facilities. These permits shall also specify the <br />access routes, weight of vehicles, and the time that the access <br />may be used. The annual permit shall be issued by the parks <br />and recreation director and no fee wil,1 be charged for the per- <br />mit. Utility companies shall have the same responsibilities <br />and liabilities for their operations within the pedestrian mall. <br />area as other permittees. <br />~Z~ ~~hen ~ it is necessary for utility companies or pri- <br />vate contractors to open holes in the surface of the mall area <br />for construction of new facilities or repair of existing foci-~ <br />lines, they shall obtain a permit and comply with all require- <br />ments of Chapter 7 of this code. The per~rnit issued by the parks <br />and recreation director shall specify the access requirements as <br />contained in section 5.570. <br />Section 5.
