ORDINANCE NO. p 3 3 <br />AN ORDINANCE REGARDING FIRE AND AMBULANCE <br />SERVICES IN THE CITY OF EUGENE; AMENDING <br />SECTION 2.625 OF THE EUGENE CGDE, 1971; <br />REPEALING SECTLONS 2.605, 2.610, 2,615 AND <br />2.620 OF THAT CODE; ADDING A NE~iI~ SECmION <br />2,644 T4 THAT CODE; AND DECLARING AN EMER- <br />GENCY. <br />THE CITY DF EUGENE DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLO~`S: <br />Section 1,. Thexe is hereby added to the Eugene Code, 1971, <br />a new section to be numbered and provide: <br />2.604 Fire and Ambulance Services. <br />~1~. The city shall provide fire suppression and fire <br />prevention and may provide ambulance services. The scope of <br />these services .inside a,nd outside the city limits are to be <br />established annually by the adopted budget of the city and or- <br />ganized as directed by the city manager. <br />X23 Employes in position classifications determined <br />by the city manager shall ha~re authority to act as a city <br />police officer for purposes, of fire suppression and fire pre- <br />vention, <br />Section 2. Section 2.625 of the Eugene Code, 1971, is hereby <br />amended to provide: <br />2.625 Fire Suppression & Pre~yention Services outside City <br />Limits. <br />~[1~. A person residing outside the city or afire dis- <br />trict desiring dire suppression or fire prevention services <br />for the protection of his property shall make an application <br />to the finance officer on forms provided, and if the applica- <br />tion is approved, shall pay to the finance officer a sum of <br />money as the council shall establish for the service. <br />~2~ The services provided under the preceding sub- <br />section shall be secondary to the protection of pro ert <br />p y <br />within the city. Except as shah, be deemed safe by the city <br />manager or his designate, city equipment and employes shall <br />not be requ%red to, go to -fires outside the city. <br />Section. 3. Sections 2.605, 2.610, 2.615 and 2.620 of the <br />Eugene Code, 1971, are hereby repealed. <br />Section 4. That the matters contained herein concern the public <br />welfare and safety and therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to <br />Ordinance ~- l <br />
