<br />City Manager Elected to Board of Directors for Statewide Organization <br />City Manager Dennis Taylor has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Oregon City/County <br />Management Association. The 12-member board of the organization is comprised of Oregon city and <br />county managers, chief city administrators, assistants to city and county managers and administrators, <br />and academics professionally interested in local government in Oregon. <br /> <br />The association exists to provide professional support to city and county managers in the state of <br />Oregon. This support includes continuing education on leading-edge management practices, networking <br />through meetings, conferences, help and advice from mentors and retired managers, and advice and <br />help on ethical dilemmas. <br /> <br />“I look forward to serving on the Board of Directors for this fine organization,” said Dennis Taylor. “This <br />organization enhances each practitioner’s skills and abilities, and also benefits the residents of the many <br />communities of Oregon as we all work together in our American democracy.” <br /> <br />Taylor joins the board with other city managers from cities including Sisters, Troutdale, Estacada, Sandy, <br />Cottage Grove, Wilsonville and Central Point. Classes on <br /> <br />Introduction to Computers Part Iand Part II and Introduction to the Internet I, will be joined by Introduction <br />to the Internet Part II. The new class covers searching and surfing, how to protect yourself from scams <br />and spam, and more. <br /> <br />To help everyone get the most out the Library’s computer resources, from basic to advanced, EPL is also <br />adding one-on-one instruction available in English or Spanish. Popular topics include: <br />• Setting up and using a free e-mail account <br />• Using the Library catalog <br />• Finding magazine and newspaper articles (EBSCO) <br />• Databases for readers (NoveList, Contemporary Authors, Books-in-Print) <br />• Business research (ReferenceUSA, General Business File, EBSCO) <br />• Foundation and grant research (Foundation Directory) <br />• Career research (Oregon Career Information Systems) <br />• Genealogy research (HeritageQuest) <br />• Health research (PeaceHealth, EBSCO) <br /> <br />Computer instruction is free, but pre-registration is required (in person or by phone).
