ATTACHMENT 2 — <br />August 17, 2009 <br />City of Coburg <br />PO Box 8316 <br />Coburg, Oregon 97408 <br />Honorable Mayor Volta <br />City Council Members <br />_! - , Lw <br />Subject: Proposed amendment to the Eugene - Springfield Metropolitan Area General Plan <br />(Metro Plan) adapting coordinated population forecasts prepared by Lane County for Eugene <br />and Springfield. <br />On June 17, 2009 the Lane County Board of Commissioners adopted Ordinance No PA 1255, <br />amending the Lane County Rural Comprehensive Plan by adding new population forecasts for <br />Lane County and all cities in Lane County for the period 2010 -2035. The Board's action was in <br />.compliance with ORS 195.036 Area population forecast; coordination. <br />On July 16, 2009 the cities of Eugene and Springfield and Lane County submitted a Notice of <br />Proposed Amendment to the Department of Land Conservation and Development (DCLD) <br />stating their intention to amend the Metro Plan by adopting the coordinated population forecasts <br />prepared by Lane County. The proposed Metro Plan text amendment win be added as the third <br />paragraph an Page I -1, Chapter I, Introduction and Purpose Section and will read as.follcws: <br />In order to achieve timely compliance with their statutory obligations under 2007 Or <br />Laws Chapter 650, the Cities of Eugene and Springfield and Lane County adopt the <br />following forecasts for their respective jurisdictional areas: <br />These figures effectively provide .coordinated projections for each city's urban <br />growth area's for years ending 2030 through 203% enabling them to meet state <br />requirements concerning the beginning and ending-years of the 20 - year planning <br />period.
