From:Anthony Rosta
To:HARDING Terri L;
In support of S-JW special area zone code amendments
Subject:
Monday, November 16, 2009 10:00:06 AM
Date:
Ms. Harding: please convey to the Mayor and Councilors this message: Thanks.
November 16, 2009
Madame Mayor and Councilors: I ask that you approve Eugene Code changes
with respect to the S-JW special area zone, the subject of a public hearing this
evening. I will attend, but will not speak, so I wanted to send this message to
you.
As a long-time Jefferson Westside neighbor ( West 11th Avenue and Adams
Street since 1987) and as a current JWN executive board member-at-large, I
have seen and participated in the work our neighbors have put into coming up
with what we think is a comprehensive and workable set of rules that will allow
and reasonably regulate an increase in density in our neighborhood in the
coming year without sacrificing those qualities of our neighborhood which attract
new people to it. As a lawyer, I have been impressed with the careful and
thoughtful construction of this proposal by our very involved neighbors in a
manner that I think will make it work legally and practically. I suspect this level
of grassroots-up legislation puts Eugene in one of the highest percentiles of
citizen involvement in U.S. communities, and I think we should be proud of that.
I hope you will each vote for this proposal in its entirety. Thank you.
Anthony T. Rosta
871 West 11th Avenue,
Eugene, 97402
