<br />M I N U T E S <br /> <br /> <br />Eugene City Council <br />2009 Boards and Commissions Interviews <br />McNutt Room—City Hall—777 Pearl Street <br />Eugene, Oregon <br /> <br /> October 13, 2009 <br /> 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />COUNCILORS PRESENT: Alan Zelenka, Chris Pryor, Jennifer Solomon, George Poling, Andrea <br />Ortiz, Betty Taylor, George Brown, Mike Clark. <br /> <br />Councilors interviewed the following applicants for appointment to the Budget Committee: <br /> <br />Aaron Walker <br />Ramin Shojai <br />Linda Barcus <br />Shanda Miller <br /> <br />Each applicant was asked to respond to the following questions: <br /> <br />1. In your opinion, which City issues should be given highest priority by the Budget Committee over <br />the next four years? Which of these do you consider to be the most important issue, and why? <br />2. In the recent past, Eugene’s budget has faced deficits of several million dollars. In FY 10, we <br />implemented a $12 million strategy to address some of the deficit, but we are still looking at deficits <br />in the future. What would be your general strategy for balancing the budget? Where would you <br />look for savings? <br />3. Do you have suggestions for ways to improve citizen understanding of the City’s financial condi- <br />tions, budget priorities, and process? <br /> <br />Councilors interviewed the following applicants for appointment to the Civilian Review Board: <br /> <br />David Balthrop <br />Mark Johnson <br />Kate Wilkenson <br />Steven Buel-McIntire <br />Tom Kamis <br />Rick Brissenden <br />Eric Van Houten <br /> <br />Each applicant was asked to respond to the following questions: <br /> <br />1. What can you tell us about your activities, personal attitudes and life experiences that would dem- <br />onstrate you can make objective decisions about complaints against the police and objectively assess <br />the completeness of Police Department internal investigations? <br />2.
