In addition, governmental funds and <br />proprietary funds report deferred revenue in connection with resources that have been received but not yet <br />earned. All such leases for facilities are classified as operating leases and expire within the next six <br />years. The total rental expense for the year ended June 30, 2009, for operating leases was $656,773. Most of <br />these leases for facilities contain an option whereby the City can, after the initial lease term, renew its lease for <br />periods of one to ten years. These options enable the City to retain use of facilities in desirable operating <br />areas. <br />continued <br />
