Exhibit A

Lane Community College Downtown Campus
– project description

Lane Community College (LCC) is in the planning stages for a new 80,000 square foot downtown
campus education facility. LCC is also considering the feasibility of including approximately 200 beds
of student housing within approximately 80,000 square feet of new housing construction. LCC has
th
selected the 10 & Charnelton Development Site as the preferred location for the project.

The new education facility will house the programs currently located in LCC’s Downtown Center
(1059 Willamette Street) – continuing education, non-credit workforce development programs, English
as a Second Language, and Adult Basic Education. In addition, Career and Technical Energy
Programs, the Business Development Center and Employee Training, eDev, Senior Companion
th
Program, and Successful Aging Institute will relocate from LCC’s facility at 14 and Willamette.
Career and Technical programs that support training for “green” jobs such as Energy Management and
Renewable Resources will be relocated from the main campus to the downtown facility. It is intended
that the multi-use facility will include space for lease by tenants and other community uses.

The new building will be a “state of the art” educational building and a learning laboratory for the
Energy Management students to use for experiments and monitoring. LCC is targeting LEED
Platinum certification.

Z:\CMO\2010 Council Agendas\M100310\S100310B-Att A-C.doc
