The outcomes will offer guidance and recommendations for policies, legislation and actions in
several areas. This work session has been scheduled to provide an overview of these efforts and the
coordination and relationships among them.

BACKGROUND

Recent council discussions have highlighted the benefit of identifying the multiple planning processes
underway - current, recent and pending - and how they connect to one another. Among these processes
are the Eugene Comprehensive Land Use Assessment and Envision Eugene, Community Climate and
Energy Action Plan, special area plans and corridor studies (such as the West Eugene EmX Extension
and Walnut Station Mixed Use Center), regional transportation planning and Eugene Counts.

RELATED CITY POLICIES
These planning initiatives help fulfill a number of City and state policies, as well as council values for a
safe community; sustainable development; accessible and thriving culture and recreation; effective,
accountable municipal government; and fair, stable and adequate financial resources.

COUNCIL OPTIONS

This item is informational.

FOR MORE INFORMATION

Staff Contact: Sarah Medary
Telephone: 682-5336
Staff E-Mail: sarah.j.medary@ci.eugene.or.us

Z:\CMO\2010 Council Agendas\M100512\S100512B.doc
