ODOT staff will present details of artistic <br />design enhancements under development, and overall improvements surrounding the bridge site. The <br />council will also receive an update on the project schedule and construction activities. The council will <br />have an opportunity to ask questions of ODOT staff. <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The Oregon Department of Transportation has initiated construction to replace existing deteriorated <br />structures and the detour bridge on Interstate 5 at the Willamette River crossing. Throughout the project, <br />the council has received periodic updates from the ODOT project manager and staff. Additional project <br />information is available through the ODOT project website at http://www.WillametteBridge.org. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />Eugene-Springfield Transportation System Plan (TransPlan, 2002) - Transportation System <br />Improvements Goods Movement Policy #1: <br /> Support reasonable and reliable travel times for <br />freight/goods movement in the Eugene-Springfield region. <br /> <br />Eugene-Springfield Metropolitan Area General Plan Goals and Policies - Economic Element, <br />Policy B.18: <br /> Encourage the development of transportation facilities which would improve access to <br />industrial and commercial areas and improve freight movement capabilities by implementing the <br />policies and projects in the Eugene-Springfield Transportation System Plan (TransPlan) and the Eugene <br />Airport Master Plan. <br /> <br />There are no remaining City policy actions necessary for the bridge construction. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br /> <br />Receive information and provide feedback to ODOT staff. <br /> <br /> <br /> Z:\CMO\2010 Council Agendas\M100519\S100519A.doc <br /> <br />
