<br /> <br />oversight and coordination of the commissions' activities.In 1989, the Mayor's Human Rights Task <br />Force examined options for restructuring the Human Rights Program and developed recommendations <br />on ways to improve the program's overall efficiency and effectiveness. In 1990, as a result of the task <br />force's recommendations, the City Council established the Human Rights Commission and its standing <br />committees. <br /> <br />The mission of the Human Rights Commission is to work so that everyone has the opportunity to share <br />in the full benefits and responsibilities of living in Eugene. In supporting City Council goals, the <br />commission is committed to: <br /> <br />-Ensuring that human rights are a central part of every City program. <br /> <br />-Respecting and reflecting cultural and individual diversity. <br /> <br />-Fostering mutual understanding. <br /> <br />-Promoting inclusiveness, justice and equity. <br /> <br /> <br />RELATED CITY POLICIES <br />Organization and Bylaws of the City of Eugene Human Rights Commission <br /> Article V: Operating Requirements of Commission and Members <br /> Section 1: The commission shall submit an annual report and yearly work plan in <br /> writing to the council by July 1. The report shall list the activities and <br /> accomplishments to date and assess these against the commission's <br /> mission and against the yearly work plans. The work plan must be <br /> approved by the council. <br /> <br /> <br />COUNCIL OPTIONS <br /> <br />1.Accept annual report and forecast for council-approved FY11 work plan. <br /> <br />2.Provide direction to modify the work plan or approach. <br /> <br /> <br />CITY MANAGER’S RECOMMENDATION <br />The City Manager has no recommendation at this time. <br /> <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION <br />None. <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br /> <br />A.
