Several appointments were made to this body in January <br />2003 during the regular cycle. <br /> <br />Policy Issues <br />There are no policy issues related to these appointments. <br /> <br />Council Goals <br />These appointments do not directly relate to a current council goal. <br /> <br />Financial and/or Resource Considerations <br />There are no financial or resource issues to be considered in this action. <br /> <br />Other Background Information <br />Based upon a recommendation from the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor nominates and <br />the City Council appoints representatives to the Lane Workforce Partnership Board of Directors. This <br />intergovernmental body directs the operations of local employment and training programs funded under <br />the federal Job Training Partnership Act. It is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing <br />job training and stay-in-school services to low-income residents and dislocated workers throughout Lane <br />County. Federal regulations require that the City of Eugene seek nominations from a general purpose <br />business organization. Residency within the Eugene city limits is not required for consideration for <br />appointment. <br /> <br />The by-laws of the organization call for a board of up to 15 members, composed of persons representing <br />a number of stakeholders in local work force issues.
