There are two options for siting of the City Hall and Community Safety Building: <br />Option 1: Redevelop the current City Hall site for a future City Hall and build a Community <br /> Safety Building on the City-owned parking lot across 8th Avenue. <br />Option 2: Redevelop the current City Hall site for a future City Hall and build a Community <br /> Safety Building on another site chosen by council. <br /> <br />Five options for implementation of the first part of the Civic Center vision are presented. They are <br />described more fully in Attachments D through G. <br />Option A: Meeting Current Needs <br />Option B: Combining Near-Term Space Needs with Civic Center Amenities <br />Option C 1: Twenty-year Space Needs and Civic Center Amenities <br />Option C2: Twenty-year Space Needs and Civic Center Amenities (primarily G.O. Bonds) <br />Option D: Full Consolidation City Hall plus Community Safety Building <br /> <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff recommendation on the policy principles is Option 1. The staff recommendation for <br />siting the Civic Center projects is Option 1. The staff recommendation on the implementation of <br />the first phase of the Civic Center vision is to adopt Option B. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION <br />1. Move that the council adopt the "major policy principles" proposed by the Mayor's Committee. <br />2. Move that the council adopt Option 1 for siting a City Hall and Community Safety Building. <br />3. Move that the council adopt Option B for financing the first phase of a Civic Center vision, and <br /> direct staff to develop a bond measure for the November ballot. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS <br />A.
