EU ENE POLICE COMMISSION <br /> FY 2004 -2005 Work Plan <br /> <br /> OUTCOME 3, Decrease misunderstandingS regarding the nature of adopted police policies, <br /> practices and apprOacheS, <br /> <br />In FY 2003 - 2004, the Police Commission will: <br />· Provide options to decision-makers regarding a potential ordinance regarding uniform standards <br />for non-sworn public safety officers and security personnel <br />· Develop and coordinate a community outreach process on the use of social security numbers by <br />law enforcement for identification purposes <br />· Present the results of the commission's analyses to the community through news releases, its <br />web site, status reports to City Council, distribution of reports to stakeholders and participants, <br />and other mechanisms as appropriate. <br />· Continue to seek opportunities to network with other organizations and constituencies to <br />increase collaboration and information sharing. Building a closer relationship with <br />youth/students, communities of color, social service providers, and other groups involved in <br />public safety issues is of particular interest. <br /> <br />oUTCoME 4. provide input On Police policieS that refleCt community values. <br /> <br />· Assist with development of a policy for the use of in-car video cameras <br /> <br />· Develop findings and recommendations on complaint handling and internal investigations <br /> policies and practices for public comment and presentation to decision-makers. <br /> <br />· Monitor the application of policies that were previously amended by the commission through <br /> annual reports and/or information requests to staff. <br /> <br /> Assist the City Council in balanCing c°mmunitypriOrities and resources <br /> ouTCOME 5, by advising it °n p°lice resource isSues; <br /> <br />· Submit a public safety action plan for community-based policing activities focused on the <br /> downtown core for City Council consideration <br /> <br />Adopted July 15, 2004 -6- <br /> <br /> <br />
