CHAPTER 3 <br />FACILITY REQUIREMENTS <br />Visual NAVAIDs <br />Visual NAVAIDs provide pilot guidance once the aircraft is within sight of the airport, and they aid aircraft <br />maneuvering on the ground. EUG’s visual NAVAIDs include: <br />Runway 16R <br />High Intensity Approach Light System w/Sequenced Flashing Lights, Category II Configuration <br />(ALSF2) <br />4-light Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI), 3° glide path <br />Touchdown zone lights (TDZL) <br />Precision marking <br />Runway 34L <br />Omni-Directional Approach Lighting System (ODALS) <br />4-box Visual Approach Slope Indicator (VASI), 3° glide path <br />Precision marking <br />Runway 16L <br />Medium Intensity Approach Light System w/Runway Alignment Indicator Lights (MALSR) <br />Glideslope, 3° glide path <br />4-light PAPI, 3° glide path <br />Precision marking <br />Runway 34R <br />Runway End Identifier Lights (REIL) <br />4-light PAPI, 3° glide path <br />Precision marking <br />Runway 16R-34L <br />Centerline lights (CL) <br />High Intensity Runway Lighting (HIRL) <br />Medium Intensity Taxiway Lights (MITL) <br />Runway Visible Range (RVR) - 3 <br />Runway 16L-34R <br />HIRL <br />MITL <br />Airport <br />Rotating Beacon <br />Taxiway Centerline Reflectors <br />Lighted wind indicators <br />Segmented circle <br />Once the VASI on Runway End 34L has reached its economical and functional life, it should be replaced <br />with a PAPI, as is a nationwide FAA trend. <br />3-8 <br />Eugene Airport Master Plan Update <br />(February 2010) <br /> <br />
