Do~, of ti~e Police Co~zmittee, called attention of the 9ounoi! to the <br /> <br />recent remarks published ,in the Daily Guard with reference to the action of the <br /> <br />NJ~gt~ ~hief of Police, M. J. Thompson.- <br /> <br /> }~[r. Striker reported tizat the Fire & Water ~o~m. ittee tt~]. received bids on nine <br />swivel chairs for the-use of the Cot~zeil'members, .and asked for .further instz~etions. <br /> <br />The matter was referred back to the I,'ire & V/stet 9ommittee vrltk power to <br /> <br />Mr. Striker also reported that the ~ire & Water Coz~ittee h~d hired ~nitor to <br /> <br />clean the offices of the City Recorder, 0it¥ E~ineer and 0ity T~easurer at a salary <br /> <br />of ten dollars per nonth. <br /> <br />Mr. '~?arnock of the Street Committee read the report of Street Co~missione~ <br /> <br />Turne~ for the l~st month; also submitted reports as follows: <br /> <br />Feb. 10th, 1913. <br /> <br />Report of street coz~nittee <br /> <br />In regard to tt~e petition to open 1Vt!t street from Oak st. <br /> <br />to Willamette' st., ~we wo~ld reco~mend ti~at the petition be granted. <br /> <br />In regard to the petition for tlze Oity to ditch and drain the south east <br /> <br />pa~t of tovflt, we would .recommend that this petition.be not granted at this <br /> <br />ti~e, as we think it would not be practical for the~eity to do this, or ~t <br /> <br />least until 1Yth St. is opened and graded. <br /> <br />regard to the petition to gravel the alley,, between }~{~dison and ~onroe <br /> <br />'Sts., we would ask~for: fumther time as we did not get to look after it yet. <br /> <br />Respectfully m~bmitted <br /> ~.
