Taylor to tt~e <br /> <br />H~yor, Council 6nd Police Officers of the City to participate in the Declare- <br /> <br />tion Day ceremonies was read and accepted by the Compel!. <br /> <br /> Councilm~n St~iker.of.tl~e Fire & ~tez Committee reported that the <br />CorT~ittee i~ad ordered awniru~s for the E~ineer and Treasurer's 0ffioes and a <br />mat for tt~e firemen and ti~at tt~e Cmm~ittee had agreed to raise the salary of <br />the City Janitor to ~15 per month from the ~th of ~ay; also brought up the <br />question of a larger main on 3rd Street as the present main seems inadequate. <br />This matter and the matter of employing an electrical inspector was re~erred <br />to the Fi~,e & ~ater Conunitte~ for f~-ther .consideration. ~{~. Striker also <br />stated that t~e was not ready to report on the oil ta~J~ Ordinance. <br /> <br /> ~ay'or Yoran reeo~.~ended that the present garbage tender, A. S.Bonepart, <br /> <br />be discharged and his employment terminated at ti~e end of t~is present montt~ <br /> <br />on tt~e 31st of }.~ay. A motion was made,'seconded and carried that ].~r. Bone- <br />part be discha~,ged at that .time, and that the Street Co:~mittee be authorized <br />to employ a new man for this v;ork.' <br /> <br />~h~gineer Forneri stated that the S. P, ~o.. owned a piece of property <br /> <br />near their freight depot extending, into Ct~arne].ton Street, which might inter- <br /> <br />fere with tt~e plans of the City for ti~e paving of Oharnelton Street, and the <br /> <br />matter was referred to the Street Co~nittee and City Attorney to ascertain <br /> <br />what arrangements can be made witt~ the Railroad Company in this regard. <br /> <br /> ~r. Forneri also brought up the question of ~ ' <br /> . apportzoning the old <br /> <br />assessnent for sewer at the corner of 16th and ~ill Streets, which matter was <br />referred to ti~e Sewer Co~mnittee, E~gineer and City Attorney to adjust. <br /> <br /> Bids fo~ 2~ading and maeadamizlng of 17th Street from Alder to <br /> <br />Streets were opened and read, and f~tl~er consideration thereof deferred until <br />May 29th at 5 o'clock P. N. <br /> <br /> Bids for the construction of a sewer from Jefferson Street in the alley <br />between Clark Street and First Avenue' west to center of. the block, t~enee <br /> <br />souti% in alley between Jefferson and ~adison Streets to !00 feet north of S.P. <br />track, also 103 feet north from the intersection of alleys in block between <br />Jefferson and }~adison Streets and Olark and Firs~ Avenue were read,.and con- <br /> <br />sidered, and a motion was made, seconded and carried tl~at the Council deter- <br />mines tt~at the bid of ~C. H. !~atzany is ti~e lowest and best bid and that the <br /> <br />contract b~ awarded to C. H. ~ahany in accordance tt~erewith for the svm of <br />.~121~oY6, and that tt~e Mayor and Recorder be instructed to enter into a <br /> <br /> <br />
